This is the official site for the Washington-Lee High School rowing program started by Charlie Butt in 1949. The school is located in Arlington, VA and we row out of Potomac Boat Club in Washington, DC.
Learn to Row Info
The schedule: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays starting September 30th and continuing for 3 weeks. Weekday time schedule is 3:30-6, Saturday is from 10am to noon. Daily practices will be held at Thompson's Boat Center
Saturday Sept. 27th: Learn to Row orientation @ Potomac Boat Club, 3530 Water Street, DC 20007, from 10am to Noon. Parents are welcome.
Monday, Sept. 29th: Mandatory Swim Test, 3:20pm W-L Pool. Bring sweats(top and bottom), plastic bag for wet cloths and something to workout in. After the swim test we will be doing an erg (rowing machine) orientation at school.
Transportation: will be Metro Bus down and School Bus back. We will meet each practice day by 3:20pm Quincy Street(Old School). Saturday practices transportation will be up to the individual families. No school transportation is provided on Saturdays.
Cost: Free but requires the swim test and USRowing Waiver signed.
Everyone is encouraged to participate as often as possible but attendance 100% of the time is not required. However communication of your availability is needed to accommodate schedule.
