St Andrews this weekend
Posted April 10th, 2008 by DerekWindy day of racing
Posted April 8th, 2008 by DerekSo Saturday seemed calm and nice enough however on the race course at the Occoquan was a different story. The races were delayed for 1 and a half hours after the 6th event. When the races resumed a decision had been made to only row the Championship Events on the course and simultaneously row the lower or novice boats on an unmarked 1200 meter course. This allowed everyone to race but made for a very challenging and long day. Most of our boats did very well for the 1st race of the season. We have reached the half way point of the season and everyone is working hard to gain speed for the racing yet to come. Results from this weekend can be found here.
Walter Mess Regatta Saturday 4/5/08
Posted April 3rd, 2008 by DerekSaturday's Scrimmage wrap-up
Posted March 31st, 2008 by DerekSo when we showed up at 6:30am and the water and temperature weren't favorable so we rowed our 1500 on the ergs. By the end of our indoor race the waters and temp had calmed giving us time to get a 750m race in. We ended up barrowing equipment from TC and the kids fought hard but came up short in all our races. It was a shaky start but the season has just begun. We look for better conditions and results to follow.

Great Start
Posted February 26th, 2008 by DerekWe had a great start to the 2008 Season yesterday. Although we haven't hit the water we are well on our way. Please remember your requirements of dues, registration, emergency care and USRowing waiver forms. Most of you have your physicals on file but some of you still need to take care of this.
Let's remember to dress for the weather and work hard. I'm looking forward to a strong and fast season.
Getting close
Posted February 14th, 2008 by DerekWe are getting close to the start of the 2008 season and that means there are a lot of things that need to get done.
Swim Tests for all novices will be Wed & Thurs. next week. Right after school. Bring full sweats(top & bottom) and a plastic bad for the wet clothes
- The swim test consists of 3 laps(any stroke), treading water for 1 minute and at the end putting on a life jacket while in the water.
We are going to attempt to move the docks Saturday. We need all available hands to be at the boathouse at 3:30pm. Dress warmly, it's going to be chilly. The location of the boathouse for novices is 3530 Water Street, Washington DC 20007. You can see the location on mapquest here(the star should actually be on the up stream side of key bridge. if you click on the aerial map(upper right corner of the map) and zoom in you'll see the green and red object to the left of the start is the boathouse)
